Water Fun post the car crash!

Thursday we had a very impromptu day at home.  This was because I (stupidly) managed to rear end someone going on the motorway.

Before you think I'm the driver from hell let me put things into perspective for you.  I drive at least 100kms a day to get to work and have done so since I was 18.  Not only do I drive this distance I do it with Mr 2 year old in the back of the car who constantly wants my attention.  Whether its for a lost dummy, the DVD to be changed, the DVD to be turned on because he's kicked the off button, or if its to show me (MUM LOOK!) how he's so clever because he's got his dummy between his toes (yes we start the trip with shoes and socks on but by the time we get to town they're off)... anyway you get my drift.  I have never crashed on the motorway before, despite driving half my trip on open roads, the other half sitting in nose to tail traffic nearly every single day and apart from a few minor incidents when I first had my license I have a clean slate with driving - not even a speed ticket to my name.

So on Thursday it was raining and Ash distracted me (I can't even remember with what!), and before I knew it my poor little car had gone up someone's bum.  The lady I crashed into (bless her), fair to say lost the plot at me initially, but my car was by far worse off (dam tow balls!) while her car got away with a minor scratch.  When she saw not only did I have a two year old but a 25 week bump to boot she became very apologetic and her main concern was around our welfare.

The damage luckily looked far worse than what it was, but will take a good 2 weeks to fix (thank GOODNESS for car insurance!).  However, most importantly the bump was happily kicking away and after a quick check with my amazing midwife we were all deemed as safe and carried on the day at home as it was impossible for me to get to and from work.

So all that said, Ash and I took the opportunity to spend some time outside in between rain showers and I managed to get some great shots in the nice afternoon light :).  Had a good chance to play with shutter speeds and try to capture water drops as he played about in the freezing cold.

Loving this puddle in the driveway... have to make sure he's not wearing shoes tho!

Daily Photo Challenge - Week 25

Another busy week in our little world but another week of photos done and dusted!  We had the shortest day of the year this week which is great because it means the days will start to get longer (and hopefully warmer!) soon.

This week I had the pleasure of photographing the lovely Bundy family.  Candice and I have been friends since high school, and late last year her and Josh had Mila who is now a smiley bubbly 7 month old.  Normally I dread these types of shoots, I'm by no means a professional photographer and even though the shoots are favours as opposed to professionally-paid, I still feel a lot of pressure to get it right.  Fortunately though Mila was fantastic, and just as photogenic as her amazing parents so I was pleased with the results - the best of which you can see as my daily photo for June 24th.  It is wonderful to see how she has grown - you can see a photo of her as a ten (?) week old on my Jan 14th photo of the day.

So here's the round up for this week!

Daily Challenge - Week 24

Blessed with lovely weather this week, and more determination I managed to get some the light at each end of the day (or at least more creative photos without it!).  This week saw me being solo mum for a couple of nights while hubby went to Wellington on business, I don't know how single mums do it!  And fair to say I'm in need of a break (I say while the 2 year old is busy trying to get onto my chair while I type - thinking a tantrum is on its way in about 30 seconds!).

So that said here are the photos from this week!

Playdate with Skarlet

Just a few little photos from our Saturday afternoon xx

Daily Photo Challenge - Week 23

Highly disappointed with my photos this week.  The end of the day is killing me, and lack of time is killing me more.  Mostly snap shots this week as that is all I could get, bring on June 20th!

One highlight of my week though was Saturday afternoon when my good friend Saph brought up a little playmate for Ash.  If you follow my blog, or are a friend you will know who Jen is, and we were very blessed to have a chance to play with her gorgeous wee girl.  For someone who has lost her mum at such a young age she is indeed remarkable which isn't surprising given her amazing mum and even more amazing support network.  I hope that Ash gets to hang with her more often :)

Enjoy!
